Anthony "Tony" G. Dolce
Anthony "Tony" G. Dolce, 79, of 55 Durant Ave., Jamestown, died at 11:25 p.m. Monday (May 9, 2011). He was born in Jamestown on January 1, 1932 the son of Joseph and Carrie Baressi Dolce.
Tony was employed at the former Crescent Tool Co. for twenty-four years, then at Acu-Rite Inc.. He was a bartender "The Best In Chautauqua County", starting at the former Red Coach Inn and ending his bartending career at The Main Event. He was also a driver for Fancee Limousine Service. He served as a medic with the US Army during the Korean War. In earlier years he was a member of the undefeated 1949 Jamestown High School football team and went on to play semi-pro football with the Jamestown Dukes. He coached Midget Football and was a line coach for Washington Junior High School for three years.
Tony was an avid, OK, MORE THAN AVID, Buffalo Bills fan. A season ticket holder for the last twenty-plus years, he stood behind his team, through the good and bad years. He also called Marv Levy a few times, and yes, Marv took his calls.
Tony was an early member of the Jamestown Boys Club and an active member of the Jamestown Boys and Girls Club Alumni. He was also an active member of the Lakewood Kiwanis Club, beginning in 1986 and served twice as the club president. He also served as a past Lieutenant Govenor of the Southwestern Division, 1995-1996. His other memberships include the American Legion Henry Mosher Post #638, DAV, John W, Tiffany Post #53 and AM Vets. He was a communicant of Holy Apostles S S Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Marietta Cutrona Dolce, whom he married on August 14, 1954 in Silver Creek, N.Y., two sons, Jeffrey T. (Patricia) Dolce, Bloomingdale, Il., Anthony J. (Anne) Dolce, Jamestown, a daughter Karen L. (Randy Thompson) Dolce of Jamestown, four grandchildren Kristin M. (Cory) Wilhelmi, North Aurora, Il, Captain Thomas J. Dolce, Fort Campbell, Ky., Amelia F. Dolce and Christian A. Dolce, Jamestown, a great granddaughter, Hayden M. Wilhelmi, North Aurora, Il., a sister Loretta (William) Johnson, Lake Royale, N.C., several nieces and nephews also survive. He is also survived by his companion Catherine Sadlowe with whom he made his home.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Dolce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Holy Apostles SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Mende, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 1:45 p.m..
