Betty A. Burkett Tobias
Betty A. Burkett Tobias, 84, of 9 Roland Road, Jamestown died at 8:35 a.m. Sunday (July 18, 2010) at ECMC in Buffalo.
She was born in Punxsutawney, Pa. on March 11, 1926 the daughter of Joseph Adam and Molly Whitaker Burkett. Betty was employed at the former Chautauqua Hardware for over fifteen years and the former Robert Halls and attended the Jamestown Community Chapel.
She was a loving grandmother and enjoyed cooking and gardening and will be sadly missed by her dog "Dolly".
Survivors include her husband Joseph C. Tobias whom she married on November 25, 1965 in Rossiter, Pa., four sons Gerald (Sharon) Reed, Craig (Lisa) Reed, Joel (Theresa) Tobias and Troy Tobias, Jamestown, three daughters Diane (Tom) Kubista, Curwensville, Pa., Linda (Launce) Soult and Joanne (Ron) Lykens, DuBois, Pa., fifteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Reed and by three brothers and five sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Hubert Funeral Home And Crematuion Services. The Rev. Dann Keefe, pastor of Jamestown Community Chapel, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Tuesday for two hours prior to the funeral service.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
