Her picture portrays a wonderful smile that accurately portrays her soul and her personality. Although she battled cancer for many years, experiencing a breast removal as a result, underwent other operations, and lately suffered an arm swollen by the disease, she never complained about her health challenges. In fact, whenever we called or visited her, she always, always asked about us and our family and did not recite her ailments and troubles until we would inquire about her health. And even then, she played down her physical problems. When we celebrated my mother's 90th birthday, Frances came to the event, never mentioning she had just been discharged from the hospital and was still recuperating from having a breast removed. In spite of these medical challenges, she took care of her brother to the time of his death. Because Frances did not drive, she relied a great deal on her cousin, Mary Swanson, who has been like a sister to her. And, even now that Frances is gone, Mary has once again, along with her sister, has answered the call to help Frances. My cousin Frances was a gem in the truest human sense. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm heart. She was a witty and interesting conversationalist, particularly about local politics. She was a bridesmaid at my aunt Josie Alaimo Curry's wedding; friend of my sister, a wonderful addition to our family Thanksgiving dinners, and most importantly, an inspiration to those of us who have so much. We shall miss her. Joe and Mary Gerace

Dearest Gentle Cousin Frances: I regret not being there to physically honor your beautiful memory. I will forever cherish our telephone conversations. Even tho you must have endured great pain from time to time, you never dwelled on it.You invarably managed to lift my spirits by turning the conversation away from yourself. I feel so blessed to have had you in my life. And now you have reached the finish line and I am certain that our heavenly family onlookers are cheering you on. Rock on, my dear cousin Frances; I shall miss you. Lovingly, your cousin, Josie Curry.

John and I were sorry to receive the news of Frances' death. We enjoyed meeting and spending time with Frances when she came to Marie's home to meet John several years ago. I think the three of us even went to Church together over that weekend. We liked her very much. She will be in our prayers. Teresa

I had the pleasure of meeting Francis several years ago when she came to me for treatment of her swollen arm. She was someone that I looked forward to seeing every week. Our sessions always included talk of what we were doing during the week and what we were having for dinner. She was always in great spirits and I enjoyed long conservations with her. I will truly miss her.

Sweet Frances was always close to our immediate family, as were her mother, father and brother. Quietly independent, always of strong character, asking no favor when favor would have been gladly given, gentle to everyone and especially me when we were in each other's presence. We shall miss you sweet Frances.

Hi all - Thanks to everyone for their wonderful comments about Frances. I was sorry that we were not able to be there for her funeral. Frances truly was a wonderful person, with a friendly smile, gentle soul and a love of family and church. Although relying on family and friends to attend family gatherings, she always cheerfully accepted an invitation and was there with her great smile - no matter what. I am sure that we all have our stories and memories about Frances. My recollection as a child and a teenager was my dad spending quite a bit of time at Uncle Charlie and Aunt Rose's house as they didn't live too far from 71 Allen Street. I remember visiting them at their home, watching Aunt Rose make her wonderful cookies (which I miss) and sipping some very sweet Italian liquor from time to time. To me, despite being alone for so many years and her inablitity to drive (apparently having no desire to do so), Frances seemed to be a very determined and independent woman - seeming to know what she wanted and/or needed and going after it. She would just call a cab if there was no one available to take her. (I have no doubt had my dad lived longer that he would have had her out there getting her license and driving though!) Although Lanny and I had discussions about her moving to an apartment like Aunt Frances and our moms, Frances wanted to remain in her home. I recall her telling us at one point that she had the Office of the Aging assist her with necessary upgrades to her home so she could stay there. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Frances always spoke very highly of her cousin Mary Swanson and I am thankful she and her sister are there to assist in the final settlement of her life. Thanks to you Joe for keeping us informed. I am sure that Frances would be very appreciative to know that memorials are being made to the WCA Cancer Treatment Center in her honor. God Bless - Marie Sheffield

Frances, was always there for others. She was such an inspiration for me. She always spoke so proudly of the Gerace and Alimo relatives and of their including her with so many of their family functions. I thought of Fran as my sister when my biological sisters married and were living out of town. She was so much fun to be with on our many trips shopping and eating out. Most of my baking recipes are from Frances. She never complained to me about her illnesses, but always wanted to console me and be of help. Chuck and I and our family will truly miss her smile and contagious laugh. I love you Cuz and best friend. Mary

Frannie was indeed like a sister to both Mary and I. We had many wonderful family gatherings and of course always looked forward to what Frannie would be bringing for us to enjoy, not only her cooking and baking, but also the fun and laughter and chuckles she brought with her. We cherish the memories of the kindness and generosity not only of Frannie, but also of Zia and Zio Carcione. Rest in peace cousin Frannie.
