Donald H. Bayer, 77, of 4151
Alm Rd., Bemus Point, N.Y., died at 7:55 a.m. Sunday (January
29, 2012) at his residence. He was born in Cheektowaga, N.Y.
on January 21, 1935 the son of the late Henry and Agnes Heidenger Bayer.
Don was one of the owners of Jamestown Roofing for twenty three years, retiring in 1998. In earlier years, he was a manufacturing representative for Baron Wheeler and for various companies, selling roofing products. He had also been a meat manager for Loblaws, Sattlers and Tops Market in Buffalo.
His memberships include, the Knights of Columbus Council #926 and its Fourth Degree and a member of the Color Corps, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, the American Legion, Ira Lou Springs Post #149, Woodenbrook Sportsman Club (Alden, N.Y.) and a former member of the Construction Specifiers Institute.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point.
Don served with the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 and was recalled back to the service from 1961 to 1962.
He is survived by three loving daughters, Linda (Jeffrey) Greenauer, Cheektowaga, N.Y., Janet Perry, Cary, N.C. and Sandra Borucki, Bemus Point, N.Y., seven grandchildren, Ian Borucki, Austin, Tx., Jerimy Borucki, West Chester, Pa., Garett and Jacob Greenauer, Cheektowaga, N.Y., Jacqueline Perry, Boston, Mass., Caroline and Travis Perry, Cary, N.C., a sister, Cynthia (George) Cole, Clarence, N.Y..
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Wheeler Bayer, whom he married on June 14, 1958 in Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and who died on September 6, 2008, and by a sister Marion Willhuck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 in St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church, Bemus Point, NY. The Rev. John l. Kuhlmann will be the celebrant.
Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, N.Y. at 2:30 p.m..
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 4:00 p.m..
