George R. Roberts
George R. Roberts, 72, of 2707 Salam Dr.,Sunrise Cove, Ashville, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday (November 15, 2011) at his residence.
He was born in Alden, N.Y. on August 22, 1939 the son of the late George and Mary Brodzynski Roberts.
George was the owner & operator of VG Auto Leasing and Sales in Jamestown for eight years and he was previously the manager of Custom Carpet Center in Lakewood for twelve years. He had also owned & operated Kirby Vacuums on Newland Ave. for seven years and was one of the owners of Chrysler Plymouth on Fairmount Ave..
Prior to coming to Jamestown, George was one of the owners of Niagara Chrysler Plymouth in Niagara Falls form 1974 to 1980. He was a member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club.
George was an avid outdoors man and his favorite hobby was fishing in Chautauqua Lake.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Isaacs West Roberts whom he married on April 19, 1985 in Ashville, two sons, George (Betsy) Roberts, Cuyahoga Falls, Oh. and Keith (Barbara) Roberts, Onoville, N.Y., five grandchildren, Elizabeth and Annabelle Roberts, Portville, N.Y., Katie and Emily Roberts, Cuyahoga Falls, Oh. and Gina Volpe, Jamestown, a brother David Roberts, Florida and a sister Patricia Kane, Port St. Lucie, Fl.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Roberts.
The funeral service will be held at noon Friday, November 18, 2011 in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Cathy Smith, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
