Marilyn Lorenzo Simpson
Marilyn Lorenzo Simpson, 82, of 42 Waverly Ave., Celoron, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday (February 18, 2011) in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was born in Sinclairville, N.Y. on April 29, 1928 the daughter of Leonard and Frances Snyder Lorenzo.
She was employed as a waitress for the Hotel Jamestown, Gandy's and Gretchen's Kitchen. She was a resident of Florida from 1949 to 1969 and was employed at Solitron Devices, which made transistors for the Apollo II Lunar Mission and was also a waitress at Captain Alex's Restaurant.
Marilyn was an avid bingo player and a member of the Chautauqua Lake Fish Club and the Celoron Moose Auxiliary.
She is survived by two step daughters Dessie (Rich) Leff, Kemp, Tx. and Debra (Tim) Harvey, Bolivar, N.Y., a sister Anne Hirlemann, Jamestown, a brother Leonard (Patricia) Lorenzo, Ellery Center, N.Y., two nephews Jon Hirlemann and Terry Cardinale and a close friend Janet Hodges, Celoron. Several nieces and nephews and step grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack" Simpson whom she married on August 30, 1973 in Sinclairville and who died on May 9, 2001 and by a brother in law Robert Hirlemann.
Visitation will not be observed. A private family graveside service will be held in Cassadaga Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood or the Celoron Fire Department.
